Hawks roster/money juggling not over yet.

I think losing Ladd and Byfuglien will hurt us a lot... Losing Versteeg sucks too, but to be honest, playing in Chicago is not the best for his career... He has way too much talent to be relegated to the third line on a team... if he improves his decision making (and the kid is young still), he's going to be a top 6 forward for a long, long time. We have a fairly well established top 6 that I don't think Versteeg would have an easy time cracking.

Skille is good, and I like Bickell's toughness, but I don't think anything replaces Byfuglien and Ladd's roles at this point.

Time will tell, I suppose.

You going to the convention?

Thanks for the response! Glad you got it fixed before I could even respond :-)

Niemi is worth far less than most Blackhawks fans think. Sorry, he's just not that great. He's good, but he's not worth big time money. He looked better than Huet because the defense cleared his rebounds more often (Niemi's rebound control was horrendous for much of last year including the playoffs). His GAA and sv% in the playoffs were respectable, but not amazing. 6th and 5th place in the playoffs respectively.

Huet obviously won't be playing with the Hawks next year, but Huet was also a lot less horrible than Blackhawks fans think. Don't get me wrong - he is not worth $5.625 million by any stretch of the imagination, but he's hardly the horrible goaltender Hawks fans treated him as when they booed him at the victory parade despite his 26 wins.

Campbell I agree with you on. He's not worth his contract, but he's much better than hawks fans credit him for. His value to our transition game is huge and his speed was an essential part of our offensive depth. With one pairing having Keith, and another having Campbell, we almost always had a good puck moving D-man on the ice to get the puck to our forwards. He's not a $7+million man, but he's much better than Hawks fans give credit.

It's interesting to see all the new folks playing armchair GM already. They act like they've been watching hockey their whole lives and spend all year booing a guy like Sopel until suddenly he's their hero because finally the announcers talked about all of his blocked shots in the playoffs. The guy led the team in blocked shots per minute on ice by a VAST margin all year long from the very beginning.

Hi all.

If you're not on version 0.96 or 0.97 yet, please go update! I fixed a ton of bugs - one of which was the automatic check for updates sometimes not working properly :-\

Hi all - looks like I may have had a bug with the auto update script not checking for updates. If you're not up to v0.96 or v0.97 yet, please head to the homepage and check it out. Lots of bug fixes, etc.

the script will only check every 24 hours... so you probably just didn't hit 24 hours since installing it yet.

.96 is coming out this evening, actually... some more bug fixes and improvements... so you won't see the (u) for 24 hours after your last update check, but you can always check the homepage

reply to OP is finished.. although I had to account for being in a "context" page and hitting reply, too... that takes you to the full comments so you can reply there, since there's no way to do it on-page.

I'll have to dig into the load more comments thing when I have more time.

I may make the order a preference setting... You're the only person who has said they want it reversed, but I can see others wanting that option too...

I figured out the up/downvotes - i have thumbnails turned off.. you don't... links with thumbnails were breaking up/downvote and I never noticed because I have them turned off. That'll be fixed on 0.96.

I think the shift-c / shift-enter things may need to be looked into.. I'll check.. thanks...

Images button had a bug on comments pages.. i've fixed it for 0.96, sorry.

Loading more comments - I'll need to look at that as well... I haven't done anything to modify that behavior, so whatever it's doing, reddit is doing as far as I can tell?

Re: your last edit suggestion: I like it.. it's trickier.. but I like it... i'll figure out how to do it... I'll try and get that in 0.96 as well.

Apple wants to know what languages I develop in. One of these "groupings" seems somewhat odd, no?

honestbleeps [S] 4 points5 points 1 month ago* [-]

I was actually referring to the grouping of Javascript/AJAX/Ruby/Rails as one group...

Javascript - client side language

AJAX - function of Javascript - requires back end.

Ruby - server side language

Rails - framework

At least Perl/PHP/Python are all server side languages...

Yes, I meant Javascript/ajax/ruby/rails...

How the hell are ruby/rails related to JS/Ajax? They're far more parallel to PHP/Python than JS/Ajax

Hey reddit, I've made this site. You can make custom logos with icons from Google, twitter etc.

Oh damn, I made this one: http://iconscrabble.com/k356a and thought I'd come in here and post it looking slightly clever.

oh man.. I didn't even think about that... it's getting the username from the HTML.. which has been replaced... so that's why it comes out 0! Duh!

I'll come up with a fix for that... sorry.

ahh.. that could be.. sorry I replied to your other message first... basically it looks like the script is having issues using localStorage... hard to say what might cause that issue.. I'll see if I can do some googling

I'm pretty sure that's not possible, unfortunately... Browsers usually have user preferences for how new tabs open... so scripts can't override that...

Do you have BetterPrivacy or something else installed that would prevent localStorage from being used?
